Digital Professor 📚

A website built for an experienced TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) instructor to connect with students through a modern, clean, and professional online presence.

Project Overview

Freelancing comes with its challenges—especially without a website! My client, an English teacher, wishes for a platform to connect with students and offer private lessons tailored to their needs.

This individual project focused on creating a digital solution that would enhance my client’s visibility and make it easier for English learners to discover and engage with services.

Individual Project

Problem

This individual project focused on creating a digital solution that would enhance my client’s visibility and make it easier for English learners to discover and engage with services.

Solution

Creating a website to give my client a professional, reliable platform for showcasing services and booking lessons—moving beyond the limitations of relying solely on social media or expensive classes.

Exploring the Competitors

Before starting to design the website, it was vital to take a look into the existing English tutoring services on the internet already. Taking notes based on their layouts, categories, and navigation.

SuperProf

✅ Offering various types of online tutoring for users who are looking to learn new subjects (English, French, math, piano, etc).

❎ Makes it challenging for individual tutors to stand out and for students to find the right match.

❎ Subscription fees are charged to students without clear disclosure, leading to unexpected charges and dissatisfaction.

AmazingTalker

✅ Offering a flexible scheduling system for both students and tutors to make it easy to book lessons based on availability.

❎ Contains a huge library of classes but the extensive options can be overwhelming for users seeking specific services.

❎ Charges commission from tutors (which may cause reduced earnings) and adds service fees to student payments.

CCI LEX

✅ Offers low-cost classes, especially in the LEX program, plus a one-time registration fee. This model supports accessibility for newcomers and those users who are on a budget.

❎ Schedule operates with set class times, offers both part-time and full-time options, but less flexibility for individualized classes.

❎ Provides comprehensive information on programs and services but has a more traditional layout, which can be overwhelming for users who seek specific details immediately.

Next Course of Action - Make a Website!

Now that I’ve explored existing online English tutoring services, it’s time to design a website that’s easy to navigate, clean layout, and accessible to users.

Tailored Tutoring 🪡

Every student learns differently. That’s why my client offers personalized lessons designed to meet unique goals, whether it’s improving conversation skills, preparing for exams, or preparing for an English exam such as IELTS.

Immersive Experience 💫

Learning English in a dynamic and engaging way with real-life scenarios, interactive activities, and practical exercises that make lessons both effective and enjoyable. The goal is to provide the best experience for users.

Flexible Scheduling 🗓️

The website facilitates seamless lesson booking by accommodating students’ preferred schedules. Flexibility is a core value that my client prioritizes in providing their tutoring services. It is important to showcase this feature.

Final Design

A website designed using Framer to connect my client with prospective English learners through a flexible, accessible platform that supports both remote and in-person sessions.

Reflection

Designing a website from scratch can be difficult. I wanted to create an easily navigational website for my clients user’s who wish to seek English lessons on a budget.

Through a comprehensive UX process that included competitive analysis, carefully structured interviews to uncover the needs and behaviours of our target audience, and a strategic focus on simplicity and usability, I was able to design and develop a website that balances functionality with ease of use.

By prioritizing only the most essential features, the final product supports meaningful user engagement while allowing my client to connect efficiently with prospective English learners in both remote and in-person settings. This project demonstrates how thoughtful research and intentional design choices can lead to a solution that is both user-focused and business-aligned.
